About
About Chaoverse: a personal and family project that also tells its owner which emails need action
Chaoverse is a small self-hosted project run by one person for their family and themselves. It has four parts, and one of them, the personal dashboard, includes a twice-daily Gmail digest that shows only the emails that look like they need the owner to do something.
What Chaoverse is
| Family | A private app for the owner's family: shared costs, invoices and household things. Family members sign in. |
|---|---|
| Me | The owner's private personal dashboard at me.chaoverse.work. Its first feature is the Gmail digest described below. Only the owner can sign in. |
| Lab | A public, cross-linked knowledge base of notes and experiments at lab.chaoverse.work. No sign-in. |
| Admin | A control room for running the servers behind it. Only the owner can sign in. |
The Gmail digest
Twice a day (09:00 and 17:00, Australia/Sydney) Chaoverse reads the owner's recent Gmail inbox threads, asks an AI model to judge which ones need a reply, a payment, a decision or some other action, and puts only those on the dashboard. Each item shows the sender, the subject, a one-line reason, a suggested action, a due date if one is mentioned, and a link back to the message in Gmail. The owner can dismiss items or trigger a check manually.
How Chaoverse uses Google data
| Permission requested | Gmail, read-only (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly). Chaoverse cannot send, delete, label or change any email. |
|---|---|
| Whose account | Only the owner's own Google account. There is no sign-up and no other users: the dashboard is behind a private sign-in that only the owner can pass. |
| What is stored | Per flagged email: sender, subject, a short reason and suggested action written by the model, an optional due date, and a Gmail link. Email bodies are not stored. Items are deleted after 90 days. |
Details, including what is sent to the AI provider and how to revoke access, are in the privacy policy.
Who runs it
Chaoverse is run by its owner on their own server. It is not a commercial product and is not offered to the public.
